Groundwork Jacksonville invites the community to spend an afternoon in beautiful Klutho Park on February 12 for Hogans Creek Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include music, free food, family activities, demonstrations from area nonprofits and the chance to see preliminary plans for the Hogans Creek restoration.
Hogans Creek begins just north of the S-line Rail Trail, near the UF Health Campus, and flows south to the St. Johns River at the Shipyards. The urban creek suffers from failing infrastructure, urban development, contamination and flooding. As part of the Emerald Trail Master Plan, Groundwork Jacksonville is partnering with the City of Jacksonville and design/engineering firm Halff to design the Hogans Creek Restoration plan. The goal is to reduce flooding, improve water quality and habitat, and create access and recreational opportunities.
Meet your Out East, Springfield and Cathedral District neighbors and learn about the exciting plans for Hogans Creek and the Emerald Trail.
