Meet New GWJax Board Chair and Vice Chair

Groundwork Jacksonville is pleased to introduce Kerri Stewart, Board Chair and Debbie Johnson Vice Chair. Both are beginning their two-year terms.

Kerri Stewart,
Chairperson

Kerri Stewart is Chief Strategy Officer Chief Strategy Officer for Miller Electric, a family-owned electrical and technology contracting company, begins a two-year term as board chairperson. Stewart has served on the Groundwork board for five years. According to Kerri, “I have been excited about this project since learning of it during my tenure at City Hall. I am passionate about seeing the Emerald Trail’s completion and feel privileged to be a part of the process.”  Kerri also serves on the board for Down

Deborah A. Martin Johnson, CPA, MBA
Vice- Chairperson

town Vision, Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens, and Goodwill Northeast Florida.

Debbie Johnson, CPA, MBA will serve a two-year term as vice-chairperson. A Certified Public Accountant

with more than thirty-five years of accounting and managerial experience, Johnson joined the Groundwork Board in 2020. She has served on numerous nonprofit boards assisting in the areas of finance, governance, operations, leadership, and strategic planning.  Debbie also serves on the boards of Leadership Jacksonville, the Arc Jacksonville and the University of North Florida Foundation, in addition to the United Way of Northeast Florida Community Investment Council.

Groundwork also welcomes Jim Maher to the Board of Directors. Maher, a professional engineer, recently retired after 35 years with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Since 2013, Maher served as assistant director for the Northeast District 13, overseeing compliance on all programs administered by the district.
